When most of us (who don’t yet know better) think about becoming professional photographers, we dream of traveling the world, having wild adventures, and taking pictures along the way.

While there is no way around the fact that nothing could usually be further from the truth, a few people really do make a living that way. One of them is Corey Rich.

I saw him deliver two workshops at Photo Week LIVE last September. He is an understated type of guy who gets out there and does it. He delivered presentations on making great images with the gear you’ve got, and on “Fast and Light: Working Alone in Remote Locations”. Though Rich usually travels with an assistant, the fact remains that it’s wonderful to check in with people who prove that it really is possible to make a living doing what you love.

This is one profile in a series about photographers to follow in 2014. These are people who are doing groundbreaking photographic work and who teach the rest of us how to do it too. They fit the PhotographyTricks motto: spreading passion for life through photography.
