Street photography often gives an insightful look into people’s daily lives—and Facebook is helping some street photographers get their start. Brandon Stanton created the Humans of New York (HONY) page in 2010 and since then, similar pages have joined the ranks from cities all over the world. The HONY page now has over 1.7 million followers, and other “Humans of ______” pages have all garnered over 50,000 likes. The idea is simple, street photography with a little bit of story, but it has developed a strong following from New York to Pakistan because of the images of everyday life that don’t normally receive national attention.

Do you have a “Humans of” page in your area? If not, it may be a great way to practice and share your street photography.
